ACCLIMATISE announced himself as a stayer of the future with an encouraging victory at just his second career start at Ballarat on Sunday.

Rising to 1600 metres, the son of Palentino let down strongly to run over the top of odds-on favourite Falcon of Malta under Harry Coffey.

Acclimatise encouraged in his debut performance finishing fifth over 1400 metres.

“He is a nice horse, he is going to be a nice staying horse of the future,” assistant trainer Toby Lake said.

“Shane wanted to put the winkers on today and I think that was the winning move.

“He actually looked the winner a long way out, it was quite a good win.”

Acclimatise may now look to some three-year-old staying races later in the season.

Shane picked out Acclimatise for $25,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale, the same sale he found Hi Stranger, Setinum and Tollesprit in recent years.

The Fliedner’s Racing team will again return to the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale this year. Click here and fill out the form to register your interest.
